The IFlash32 BIOS Update Utility is an application program used for 
updating the system BIOS.

RELEASE NOTES FOR THE IFLASH32 VERSION  2.6 Build 3

A. CHANGES SINCE THE PREVIOUS VERSION

   1. Platform - OS Alignment release.
   2. Platform detection for iFlash32 will be using BIOS version.
   

B. DEPENDENCIES

   1. Requires support for Intel Platform Innovation Framework for 
      EFI Flash Update Interface Specification, Revision 0.38.

   2. Supported on WinPE 1.6/ WinPE 2.0 / WinPE 2.1 environments.

   3. Binary input files must conform to Intel Platform Innovation 
      Framework for EFI Capsule Specification, Revision 0.9.

C. SUPPORTED PLATFORMS

   1. S5000, S5400, S3000, S3200, SFC4UR platforms.

D. HOW TO USE THIS UTILITY

For WinPE 1.5/WinPE 2.0/WinPE 2.1
   1. Boot to the WinPE environment using a WinPE HDD. Alternatively you
      can use WinPE CD/HDD customized with the addition of flashud.sys
      driver(recommended only for WinPE 1.5).

   2. Copy the release package of IFlash32 utility and BIOS update file 
      (also referred as capsule file) to a diskette or HDD. This should 
      be a writable media.
     Note : For WinPE 2.1, please use the binaries present in iflash release \ x64 folder. For others the binaries are located under iflash release \ x86 folder.

   3. Iflash32 utility requires the BIOS update driver (Flashud.sys) to 
      be installed on the WinPE environment as a pre-requisite.

	To install BIOS update driver(Only applicable for HDD without 
        customized driver support):	

	a. Go to the command prompt.

	b. Change directory to the path where iFlash32 driver is present.

	c. Run the following command.
	install.cmd [Full path where IFlash32 utility is present.]

       Note:- If you are using WinPE CD/HDD, the CD/HDD should be customized 
	with flashud.sys driver support. Refer to "Intel Server 
      Configuration Utilities Deployment Procedure for Windows PE 2005" document for
       more information.(Only for WinPE 1.5)

   4.Run the Iflash32 utility on the prompt
	     C:\iFlash32 [Options] [file Name ]


E. USAGE

   1. Command line Interface

             IFlash32 [Options] [File Name]

      a. To view the command-line help page:

             IFlash32 -h

      b. To update the System BIOS:

             IFlash32 -u [File Name]

      c. To display file information:

             IFlash32 -i [File Name]

      d. To display the system BIOS Version:

             IFlash32 -i

      e. To update the system BIOS in non-interactive mode:
             
             IFlash32 -u [FileName] -ni

      f. To automatically reboot system after a system BIOS update:

             IFlash32 -u [FileName] -r
      g. To run in quiet mode (Applicable only for WinPE)
                 The -q switch suppresses output and progress messages from being displayed. 
	Note : Executing iFlash with this option suppresses all output messages 
	           including questions to user. The user has to use this switch 
	          only when he is sure that no interaction will be required
	          at the time of execution. This option is targetted to specific 
	          programs / advanced users and will not be documented elsewhere.

    2. Reboot system after the update/Restore Default BIOS Settings operation is completed.

F. UNINSTALL

For WinPE

    1. Uninstall BIOS update driver using the following command. 
       (Applicable only if driver is installed using install.cmd)
       Run uninstall.cmd from the package directory.

    2. Delete the folder containing the iFlash32 files.


E. KNOWN ISSUES

   Nil.
       
F. UNSUPPORTED FEATURES

   1. This version of the utility does not support split binary files.

   2. This version of the utility does not support capsule files that do not 
      contain Flash Area Table information.
